Caroline Mustard: Director
Caroline began her art career in her native UK at the tender age of 4 and never looked back. She graduated from the prestigious Brighton College of Art more years ago than she cares to admit. The Joy of Drawing is an outgrowth of her work with co-founder and fellow Brit, Katy Lea, teaching folks to draw and paint in and around Silicon Valley. When COVID hit they authored a book The Joy of Drawing, A Beginner’s Manual, available on Amazon and Ingrams, and began teaching online. They quickly expanded and created The Joy of Drawing Inc as a non-profit corporation dedicated to inspiring people to create, thus enriching the quality of their lives. Caroline is also a working artist who exhibits in San Francisco where she resides close to her family.

Sonia Brittain: Creative Director
Originally from the UK, working artist Sonia Brittain now lives in California with her family. Art has always been a part of her life. However, as she pursued her medical studies in London and became a psychiatrist, she put her creative practice on hold. It wasn’t until her thirties, while raising three young boys, that she decided to reconnect with her artistic roots.
In 2016, she embarked on a year-long daily art project that reignited her passion. Since then, she has spent years filling sketchbooks, diving into various creative projects, and rediscovering her voice as an artist —and she is excited to share that journey with you.
As our Creative Director Sonia will build our social media presence and add content from herself and other guest artists to provide a broad spectrum of opportunities for artistic expression through The Joy of Drawing.
